Cubitts for Beirut

I grew up in Beirut and the artwork ‘بيروت: دولاب منفّس وماشي (flat tire still rolling)’ is a love letter to a dysfunctional city that is still kicking.

When the August 4th, 2020 explosion that rocked the Lebanese capital happened, I was Cubitts in-house graphic designer. They wanted to help. I donated an artwork that I designed in 2014 to be printed on a spectacles cleaning cloth.

I grew up in Beirut, the site of a catastrophic explosion on August 4th, 2020. This caused almost 200 deaths, 6,500 inuries, and billions of pounds worth of damage to homes, schools, and businesses, leaving 300,000 people homeless. All proceeds from the oversized cloth will be donated to Beirut-based charity Beit el Baraka, who are rebuilding homes destroyed in the blast.

The piece was designed by myself, Siwar Kreytem, and Shaden Fakih during a workshop in our hometown of Beirut. The workshop was held by Iranian graphic designer, Homa Delvaray.
